The Grand Cru Muenchberg, Mountain Monks, is recognized and cultivated since the 12th century by the monks of the Abbey of Baumgarten, today refuge of Cistercian nuns. The terroir is unique in Alsace: a mixture of pink sandstone and volcanic sediment in a beautiful natural amphitheater sunny south and dedicated to Riesling.
